Context:
Transcription is the process by which any type of oral content is converted into text for use in a legal proceeding. The resulting text of the transcript must accurately reflect everything that is said. Hesitations are not eliminated, nor repeated words or the speaker's errors corrected.
Problem:
A prestigious Colombian law firm needed to have the real-time transcript of several hearings, which in this case were virtual, of the arbitration and expert opinion processes of the companies it represented. The transcript should be literal and as faithful as possible since all the content is very important in the legal field. Any small difference in the context can cause problems in the development of the process.
Developing:
The main issue of the arbitration process consisted of analyzing financial and technical aspects of the economic settlement disputes and delays in the fulfillment of a contract. It was carried out in the department of Antioquia in the urban transformation and furnishing, renovation, and canalization of an underground network of public services of one of the most important streams of water in this territory, to mitigate floods in the coming years.
Solution:
Due to the legal nature of the project, ATmedios had to have the most experienced and precise stenotypists. They transcribed more than 60 hours of hearings in Spanish. Our technical team attended throughout the hearings and even from one hour before the start of the sessions each day to verify that all the technical aspects worked correctly.
The experts were in countries such as Mexico, Spain, and Colombia. ATmedios had to guarantee the availability of the service for which it had two independent Internet connections, a backup power system with UPS, and a power plant. In addition to carrying out the simultaneous transcription during the hearing, ATmedios had to deliver at the end of each day the written and revised reports with an accuracy greater than 99% so that the lawyers could study each of the interventions of those involved in the process and served as the basis and support for the legal process.
Challenges:

- We guaranteed high accuracy and speed to display the text on the screen.
- We provided a reliable system that allowed access to the transcript using a strong password.
- The legal staff received a preliminary version of the transcripts the same day.
