On July 4, "Pythoness" premiered. It's a drama and suspense miniseries filmed in Quimbaya, a municipality located in the western part of the department of Quindío in Colombia. This project won the Ministry of IT call "Abre Cámara" (Open Camera) 2022.
This production tells the story of a woman who is a fugitive from the authorities and, in her escape, arrives in a rural area where she deceives a family of peasants by telling them that there is a "guaca", a treasure buried in their land. With this and other lies, she hides and evades the law. As the days pass, an unexpected visit from a family member arrives and exposes the truth about the "Pythoness".
The production company of the miniseries contacted ATmedios to contract the Closed Caption service for the nine episodes, the promotional videos, and the trailer. In the execution of this project, our transcriptionists were in charge of listening to the audio and transcribing it accurately, ensuring to capture all the spoken words and relevant details of the dialogues. Then, our Caption Makers adjusted the subtitles to appear at the right time, in sync with the characters' speech. Finally, they added relevant information to make the content accessible to deaf people. Our Quality Control Department then checked spelling, grammar, and punctuation to ensure the text's accuracy, consistency, and flow and that the Closed Caption reflects the original content of the production. We generate and deliver the files in a broadcast industry-standard format to finalize the service.
Benefits of Closed Caption for film Producers:
- Larger audience: By providing Closed Captioning, film production companies can reach more audiences in Spanish-speaking countries.
- Internationalization: Colombian productions reflect the country's cultural diversity, traditions, stories, and social issues. By providing subtitles, production companies can export their content, attracting foreign distributors and streaming platforms and increasing their commercial opportunities.
- Brand recall: Promoting a film as accessible and friendly to the hearing impaired can be a selling point and a marketing strategy. By including Closed Captions, film producers demonstrate their commitment to inclusion and diversity, which can attract a broader fan base and generate a positive image for their brand.
Advantages of Closed Caption for users:
- Accessibility for deaf people: Closed Caption enables the hearing impaired to enjoy movies by providing dialogue text and other important audio elements.
- Understanding in noisy environments: Subtitles allow people to follow the plot and understand dialogues even in ambient noise, such as restaurants, gyms, or multi-person households.
- Language learning: Watching movies with Closed Captions helps to associate spoken words with their corresponding writing, making it easier to expand vocabulary and familiarize with the grammatical structure of a given language.
- The accent clarity: Some films may include regional dialects that can make comprehension difficult. Closed captions provide additional assistance by displaying the corresponding text, allowing the audience to understand the dialogues better and fully enjoy the content. In addition, they can improve the viewing experience on rural TV channels, especially when the audio is poor due to signal quality or the environment in which the TV is being viewed.
- Description of sounds: On-screen text or captions include dialogue and descriptions of sound effects, music, and other relevant auditory elements, which enrich the viewers' experience.
